Spearmint(Mentha spicata) is a type of mint similar to peppermint. It hails from Europe and Asia but it is now commonly grows on other continents around the world. The most common way to enjoy this herb is drinking it as a tea, which can be made from either dried or fresh leaves.
Many health benefits have been attributed to spearmint, whether consumed fresh or used as an essential oil.
Some people use spearmint to help alleviate symptoms of nausea, indigestion, gas, headache, toothache, cramps, and sore throat.
It is also applied topically, to the skin, to help reduce swelling due to nerve or muscle pain.
Here’s a good recipe I’ve been using for my family when having a tummy ache:
Spearmint Tummy Blend
6 drops Spearmint
4 drops Roman Chamomile
1 tablespoon F.C.O. (Fractionated Coconut Oil)
Massage blend into abdominal area using clockwise strokes, twice a day. .
